BRISTOL
Jacob Goede, who had
been dominant for a large
portion of the evening, had
been shuffled back through
the field with an extremely
loose condition.  During the
caution he ducked his
machine onto pit road and
opted for a tire changing
giving up valuable track
position.  With 10 laps to go
the field would make its
final restart of the evening.
Goede, who had been
running in the top five
before the caution,
restarted in eighth at the
tail end of the lead lap.
Just as Campbell seemed
to pull away from the field,
Goede began passing
everything in sight.  By lap
197 Goede was back into
the second position and
setting sail for Brian
Campbell.  The laps would
run down, and Goede was
unable to make a strong
challenge for the lead as
Brian Campbell wins the
Thompson Metal 200 at
Bristol Motor Speedway
.
“I knew Jacob was coming at
the end” commented Brian
Campbell.  “When he got into
the second position my spotter
came on the radio and told me
I needed to go.  We had pulled
out to about a half a
straightaway lead, and the next
lap when I looked in my mirror
it was only a half a
straightaway.  I had to get back
on the wheel, and I think I
picked up a couple of tenths on
the last few laps.”
"Jake is one
heck of a
driver," said
Campbell. "I'd
race next to
him any day.
There was a
little bumping
(earlier in the
race), a little
grinding, but it
was no big
deal. It was
racing.
